My Background
I was in the Navy at the time of the Vietnam war, the Cuban blockade, and the assassination of Pres. Kennedy, notable and melancholy times throughout history. After discharge from the military, I joined the Dallas Fire Department, where I was a firefighter for 36 years. After retiring from the fire department, I decided to document my imagination and ideas, beginning with tales about my granddaughter and her cat. My 1st book entitled Suzy and the Bug will be followed by Suzy and the Bug meet the Loch Ness monster. I am also working on doing a podcast version of their adventures. The first podcast will follow Suzy and Bug through their adventure in a haunted mansion.
Throughout my life, I have witnessed and lived through some of the most notable and melancholy times in history. As a young individual, I found myself in the midst of the Vietnam War, where the world was grappling with the atrocities of conflict and the pursuit of peace. The Cuban blockade added to the tension, a moment when the world held its breath, fearing the escalation of hostilities. And then, the unthinkable happened - the assassination of President Kennedy - a moment that shook the very core of our nation and left an indelible mark on history.
After my time in the Navy, I transitioned to a new chapter in my life, joining the Dallas Fire Department. As a firefighter, I embraced the call to serve my community and protect lives. For 36 years, I faced the challenges of fighting fires, rescuing the distressed, and providing solace in moments of crisis. The fire department became my second family, and the camaraderie among fellow firefighters created an unbreakable bond.
As the time for retirement approached, I felt a stirring within me - a desire to express the vivid imagination and ideas that had been brewing in my mind for years. With the support of my loved ones, I decided to embark on a new creative journey - documenting my imaginative tales, starting with stories about my cherished granddaughter and her playful cat.
The first book in my series, "Suzy and the Bug," captured the innocence and wonder of childhood, taking readers on a heartwarming adventure through a world of imagination. The endearing tales of Suzy and her feline friend touched the hearts of readers of all ages, encouraging me to continue sharing their captivating escapades.
As my storytelling evolved, I found myself inspired by legendary mysteries and legendary creatures. Thus, the idea for "Suzy and the Bug Meet the Loch Ness Monster" was born. In this thrilling sequel, Suzy and the Bug venture to the mystical realm of Loch Ness, Scotland, where they encounter the legendary creature, Nessie. The blend of reality and folklore promises an enthralling tale that will ignite the imagination of readers once more.
But the story doesn't end there - a new horizon of creativity beckons. With the advent of technology, I am excited to venture into the realm of podcasting, breathing life into the adventures of Suzy and the Bug. The podcast will take listeners on an auditory journey, immersing them in the enchanting world of these intrepid characters. The first podcast, "Suzy and Bug's Haunted Mansion Adventure," promises to send shivers down listeners' spines as they explore the mysteries of a spooky mansion.
As I reflect on my journey, from serving in the Navy to fighting fires and now exploring the realms of storytelling, I am humbled and grateful for the experiences that have shaped me.
